ViewLux Door Installation: The Palm Beach Owner’s Guide
If you have a ViewLux door in Palm Beach and a part has failed, we can typically match it, price it, and install it the same week. Most ViewLux door installation work in Palm Beach runs between $140 and $420 depending on the part, and we keep the most common ViewLux hardware and roller assemblies stocked on our trucks. The call usually starts the same way: a door that suddenly drags, a handle that spins without catching, or a panel that’s jumped its track after a hard gust off the Intracoastal.
We’re an independent installer, not affiliated with ViewLux, but we’ve been authorized to install their products since 2011 and we know which parts interchange and which ones don’t.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To
ViewLux builds sliding glass doors, hinged patio doors, and impact-rated models across a handful of series lines. The part you need depends almost entirely on which series you have, and that’s where we see homeowners get tripped up. A roller assembly from a standard ViewLux 7000 series sliding door will not seat properly in the impact-rated 9000 series track. The track profile is deeper, and the roller housing is a different height. If you still have the original paperwork, the series number is on the first page. If you don’t, there’s a small etched label on the door’s edge near the lock stile.
For Palm Beach homes within a mile of the water, the 9000 series is the most common. For homes further inland, the 7000 and 5000 series appear more often. We match OEM hardware when it’s available and still in production, but for older ViewLux doors where the factory part is discontinued, we use a top-grade aftermarket roller and housing kit that we’ve tested side by side against OEM. In our experience, the aftermarket kits for ViewLux 5000 series doors hold up better than the original rollers did after ten years of salt air.
Signs Your ViewLux Door Installation Is Failing
- The door drags or needs a shoulder to move. This is almost always a roller problem. The nylon wheels flatten over time, especially on heavy impact-rated panels. The door gets heavier to move until someone leans into it hard enough to break the handle.
- The handle turns but the latch doesn’t retract. Inside the handle mechanism is a small spring-loaded cam that connects to the latch rod. When that cam strips, the handle spins free. It’s a $30 to $60 part, but it takes someone who’s done a hundred of them to replace it without damaging the door face.
- The door locks but there’s play at the top or bottom. This usually means the rollers are out of adjustment or the panel has settled. On ViewLux doors, the adjustment screws are at the bottom edge, behind small plastic caps. But if the panel is sagging because the frame itself has moved, adjusting rollers only masks the problem.
- You hear grinding or metal-on-metal when sliding. That’s a roller that’s worn through its nylon coating. The metal wheel is running directly on the aluminum track. Every slide is shaving the track thinner, and eventually the door jumps it entirely.
- Water staining on the floor near the track after heavy rain. On ViewLux doors, the weep holes in the bottom track can clog with sand and debris, and Palm Beach gets plenty of both off the ocean breeze. That’s often a cleaning fix, but if the track has corroded through, it’s a replacement.

Every quote includes the part, labor, disposal of the old hardware, and a test slide before we leave. We give you a written line-item price before we start, and that number is what you pay. No change orders. Our workmanship comes with the 36500-Day Done Right Promise: if it’s not done right, we come back and make it right. That’s not a warranty card in a drawer; that’s Ed Winslow’s name on the work.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely do yourself: clean the bottom track with a stiff brush and warm water, clear the weep holes with a pipe cleaner, and wipe down the top track where dust gathers. Most “broken” ViewLux doors we see in Palm Beach are actually just dirty tracks.
What you shouldn’t do yourself: pull a sliding panel out of its track. A ViewLux impact-rated panel can weigh over 180 pounds, and once it’s off the track, there’s no gentle way to lay it down. The rollers are under spring tension, and if a panel tips while you’re working on the floor, it takes out tile, screen frames, and occasionally a knee. We’ve rebuilt enough Palm Beach patios to know exactly how that goes. If the panel needs to come out, call us at (561) 831-7863. It’s the safer call, and usually the cheaper one too once you factor in the damage a dropped panel causes.
FAQs
Most ViewLux rollers last 7 to 10 years in Palm Beach’s salt-heavy air, and often less on doors that face the ocean directly. The nylon wheel surface breaks down faster here than anywhere inland, so we tell our customers to expect roller replacement roughly twice over the life of the door.
Rollers and handles are replaced, not repaired. Once a roller’s nylon surface is worn through, there’s nothing left to lubricate; it’s done. Track sections can sometimes be cleaned and realigned, but if the aluminum has corroded through, a section replacement is the only fix that lasts.
Most single-panel work takes under two hours, and we do it on the first visit. Both panels with track work can take half a day. We show up with the right part, the right tools, and a technician in uniform who’s background-checked before they ever knock on your door.
We stock the most common ViewLux rollers, handles, and track components on our trucks, especially the ones that fit the impact-rated series we install most in Palm Beach and the surrounding areas. If it’s an oddball part for a discontinued series, we order it and you’ll know the ETA before you pay anything. We also work on doors from PGT, CGI, and CWS, so if you have a mixed house full of different brands, you’re still making one phone call. Call (561) 831-7863 for a free estimate.
Ed’s name is on the door, and on every job we do. My name’s on the truck. That’s reason enough to do it right.
